Eastern Ontario Development Program

On October 21, 2011 the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State for the Federal Regional Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) announced a renewal of the Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP) through to March 31, 2014. The EODP has been a federal government initiative to support community economic development in the rural communities of south eastern Ontario for the past seven years.  The initiative is delivered through the network of Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) serving the area.  Through that period $68 million has been invested in businesses and communities across south eastern Ontario.

The renewal of the program also brought some redesign of the delivery to allow participating CFDCs to make multi-year commitments to longer term, substantive projects.  The program now has three streams:

  • Business Development
  • Community Innovation
  • Collaborative Projects

Any municipality, not for profit corporation, first nation or business based within Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry including the City of Cornwall is eligible to apply for funding from any of these streams. The maximum contribution to any specific project is capped at $100,000 per year.  If the recipient is a for profit business the contribution cannot exceed more than 50% of the eligible costs. (upon Government funding)

Business Development has funds to support the creation of new jobs for both youth and non-youth Interns, funds to support training and skills development, funds to support innovation and adoption of innovative information communication technology and funds to support business planning and market development opportunities.

Community Innovation has funds to support community led economic development activities that enhance and diversify the local economy and develop opportunities for sustainable economic growth and employment.

Collaborative Projects are ones which have impact across a broader regional level across south eastern Ontario and require an investment by at least two of the fifteen Community Futures Development Corporations serving south eastern Ontario.
