Core Work

Strategic economic development and planning – working with communities to assess local challenges and take action on ideas and opportunities that could strengthen the economy; planning and helping to implement development strategies that will have a positive impact; acting as liaison with government and connecting businesses to important support programs that aid in their expansion; promoting the benefits of establishing or locating businesses in SD&G.

Community economic development – working with public, non-profit and private sector partners to implement projects or initiatives to strengthen the local economy and community.

Business development counseling and referral services – providing important counseling services to businesses, entrepreneurs and social enterprises for the development of new businesses and the expansion of existing businesses; helping connect business to important support programs that provide best practices and aid in development and expansion.

Investment/Access to capital – administering funds from the Government of Canada to help finance new or existing businesses and social enterprises for start-up and expansion activities or stabilization plans that help maintain or create jobs.
